Materials and build

Samsonite's mid-range lines are polycarbonate. Vox Journey is not — the range is magnesium aluminium alloy or advanced engineered RPET. These are different materials with different trade-offs, so compare the published weights, warranty and price rather than assuming equivalence.

Samsonite's premium Cosmolite line uses Curv®, a proprietary thermoplastic that is significantly lighter and more impact-resistant than standard polycarbonate. There's no Vox Journey equivalent at that material grade in 2026. If shaving 800g off your cabin is critical, Cosmolite is the right answer — but you'll pay S$700+ for the privilege.

Lining and humidity

Both Vox Journey cases use a 210D water-repellent polyester lining and carry a five-year shell warranty. Samsonite uses standard polyester linings across most lines.

Warranty terms

Samsonite's 3-year warranty on most lines is shorter than Vox Journey's flat 5-year coverage. The Cosmolite 10-year warranty beats Vox Journey on duration, but only applies to that single line. For most mid-range buyers, Vox Journey's 5 years across the entire range is the simpler proposition.

Singapore service experience

This is where Samsonite has a real edge. They have multiple walk-in service centres across Singapore. You can drop off a damaged bag at one and pick it up repaired in days. Vox Journey cannot match that yet: servicing arrangements are still being finalised and will be published before the launch collection ships. On this point Samsonite is simply ahead.

Price-per-feature

At S$390 retail — S$290 on the founders' list — the VOX RPET Voyage Box is a 28" check-in case in advanced engineered RPET, with a 210D water-repellent lining, a TSA-approved combination lock, 360 degree multi-spinner wheels on cushion axles and a five-year shell warranty. The VOX Magnesium Aluminium Voyage Box sits above it at S$690 retail (S$590 founders'), in magnesium aluminium alloy with engraving available. A cabin size is not in the range yet.

Where Samsonite is the right pick

• You want the lightest possible cabin (Cosmolite, 1.9 kg)
• You want walk-in same-day service
• You're buying a gift and want maximum brand recognition
• You're buying a 28-inch / 76cm at the lower end (Samsonite Octolite goes lower)

Where Vox Journey is the right pick

• You want a 28" check-in case at S$390–690, or S$290–590 on the founders' list
• You want a water-repellent 210D lining and a five-year shell warranty
• You want a 5-year warranty without paying premium-tier prices
• You prefer modern, editorial design over heritage styling
